概要

Nsolo (also recorded in colonial literature as Nchombwa) is a colossal four-row mancala traditional to the Ngoni (Angoni) people of Malawi and eastern Zambia. First recorded in 1913 by British colonial physician Dr. Meredith G. Sanderson in the Nyasaland protectorate, the detailed competitive rules were formally documented in 1975 from players in Ndola, Zambia. Renowned as one of the largest mancala games in the world, Nsolo boards hollowed into the ground frequently extend from 4×8 grids up to monumental 4×36 layouts requiring 284個, often contested by rival communal teams. Distinctive among multi-row mancalas, a frontal capture on an empty inner landing entitles the player to a devastating second-stage bonus: stripping an equal number of enemy 石 from anywhere across the opponent's territory.
